HIS Last Rodeo

What started as a surprise birthday present, quickly evolved into one of our fondest moments in video production. Grand Forks country western legend DuWayne Heyd composed and recorded the catchy single “His Last Rodeo” many moons ago in Nashville. More recently, we got the call from Mr. Heyd’s wife Rhonda with a special request — produce an original music video for this song as a birthday present for the beloved songwriter.

Ad Monkeys shot and produced the official music video for “His Last Rodeo” — a catchy country-western number from singer/songwriter DuWayne Heyd of Grand Forks, North Dakota. From original concept and storyboards to casting, directing, photography, and video production, the Ad Monkeys creative team used nearly every trick up our sleeve in pulling together this video favorite.

After some quick location scouting, Ad Monkeys locked down the perfect set for the opening scenes and then roped a nearby champion rodeo rider to star in the leading role. We also connected with a familiar rodeo company and coordinated with a regional event center to gather additional footage at an actual rodeo event. A few days later, our award-winning video editor unveiled what you see here — a perfect gift that left the golden-throated singer speechless. Happy Birthday, D! and many happy returns!
