HIGHLIGHTS FROM Our FIRST 30 YEArs:

Gator party

When our friends at Home of Economy wanted to promote their new lineup of Traeger wood pellet grills, we all knew it deserved more than a traditional in-store demo. So, together with the client, we cooked up something a little more memorable — smoking a whole alligator and inviting the public to free lunch. With the slogan “Look Your Lunch in the Eye,” we created event graphics and T-shirts featuring one unmistakable detail: a giant gator eyeball. We also worked closely with the client for preparations, setup, and strategic planning.

How does a local retail store boost sales of its top-selling wood pellet grills? Just add alligator! Ad Monkeys worked closely with its longtime client Home of Economy to promote its line of Traeger grills by preparing and serving genuine Louisiana gator to the public. The event became a smoking success that travelled to all eight North Dakota store locations.

Jaw-dropping success at the Grand Forks store quickly demanded we take this on the road. Over the next several years, all eight store locations across North Dakota got their own gator party. With TV personality Bruce “The Alligator Man” Mitchell joining the festivities and Cajun-style sides added to the menu, the promotion became a major draw, attracting thousands of people and helping Home of Economy become the top-selling Traeger dealer in the state — proof that this campaign had some real teeth.

Our behind-the-scenes work for Home of Economy’s gator parties included an extra helping of Ad Monkeys public relations skills and a dash of careful planning as we coordinated with media outlets across the state. The outcome included live radio remotes from each gator party, high profile feature stories in local printed and online publications, and great TV coverage on the evening news. This traveling roadshow took us to points all across North Dakota, including Rugby — the geographic center of North America. How awesome is that!
